AIGA Atlanta's "Atlanta Design Week" Recognized by the City and the National HOW Design Conference
June 2007 - As Vice President for the Atlanta chapter of AIGA, Jennifer organized the chapter's inaugural Atlanta Design Week - a showcase of the innovations and accomplishments of design in the southeast. The week was held during the same time as the annual HOW Design Conference to reach a larger audience by engaging the 2,000+ designers in town for the national conference. The result of the online guerrilla marketing tactics employed to promote this week of events, resulted in sold out events with attendees from all over the nation.
2007 Atlanta Design Week was recognized with an official proclamation from the City of Atlanta. In addition, HOW magazine editor, Bryn Mooth, recognized AIGA Atlanta's Design Week in the official HOW Conference blog and opened the 2007 HOW Design Conference with an announcement of Design Week. With the opening announcement, Bryn showcased the proclamation from the city recognizing the week and acknowledged the Atlanta chapter of AIGA for their efforts as embassadors of the conference host city.
About the HOW Conference
The HOW Design Conference is sponsored by HOW magazine, the creative and business resource for graphic designers.
Like HOW magazine, the HOW Design Conference recognizes that graphic design is a business as well as an art. We launched this annual event in 1991 with the goal of providing a hands-on, educational program to enable designers to better balance the three key components of graphic design: creativity, business and technology. Conference sessions cover a mix of these three critical design issues, with particular emphasis on creative and business topics.
